Notes
  • Significance: It is the only extant water works in the county that was owned and operated by the Pennsylvania Railroad Company beginning in the early 20th century. Architecturally, the pump house is a locally unusual example of a stone, Romanesque style industrial building. Most other similar facilities owned by the railroad at that time were constructed of either brick or wood. The water works is also important locally in the history of technology and sanitary engineering...
