Notes
  • Significance: Built in response to the pre-World War II massive mobilization, Building 3 was originally a self-contained multi-purpose troop barracks for 2,200 men. It included a barber shop, post office, communications office, mess hall, post exchange (PX), bakery, issue room, day rooms, library, and study halls when it was completed in 1940. At that time, it was one of the largest military buildings in the United States. It is significant element of the Chanute AFB Historic District.
