Deutsch: Prinzip eines digitalen PSDs: Die Helligkeit jedes Pixels wird mit einem globalen Schwellwert verglichen. Die Vergleichsergebnisse werden zeilen- und spaltenweise mit einem logischen Oder verknüpft. Aus den Koordinaten aller aktiven Zeilen und Spalten (rot) wird dann ein Schwerpunkt berechnet, der die gesuchte Koordinate des Lichtflecks (gelber Kreis) darstellt.
English: Principle of a digital en:Position Sensitive Device: The illumination of each pixel is compared to a global threshold. The results of the comparisons are logically OR-ed for each row and column separately. From the co-ordinates of all active rows and columns (shown in red) the center of gravity is computed, which is the wanted co-ordinate of the light spot (yellow circle).
