Summary[edit]

Description Counties of England in the year 1086, as documented in the Doomsday Book, after the Norman Conquest. Thee English counties were divided into several "circuits". This one features Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Rutland, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. Note that Lancashire did not exist yet and the area was simply "Yorkshire" at this point; this is because Yorkshire was originally a succesor to the Viking Kingdom of Jorvik which covered a wide area.
