Summary[edit]

Description
English: A Douglas C-54D Skymaster (c/n 10547) repainted for a movie in World War Two US Army Air Forces markings at Chico, California (USA) in 1992. This aircraft was delivered to the USAAF on 31 January 1945 as 42-72442 and was transferred to the RAF as a Skymaster CI in 1945 (serial KL977). The aircraft was operated by either No. 232 or 236 Squadrons Palam, India. Returned after the end of the war, it was transferred ot the U.S. Navy (R5D-3 BuNo 91994) and later modified as C-54Q. It was stored at the MASDC in 1970 and bought by Aero Union in 1974 (civil registration N62296, later N76AU "Spirit of America"). It was bought by Aero Flite Inc., Arizona (USA) in 1999 and by Brooks Fuel, Alaska (USA), in 2006 (N3045V). Nose art says "Santa Monica Maid."
