Description

Dort wo heute das neue Palais steht, stand bis etwa 1395 eine verteidigungsfähige Wohnburg, ein Rittergut. Nachdem die Anlage vielfach verkauft wurde und ständig den Besitzer wechselte kam das ganze Areal 1706 in die Hände von Friedrich August I (August der Starke). Der schenkte das Schloss seiner Mätresse Gräfin von Cosel. Im Jahre 1718 holder er es sich aber wieder zurück und ließ es 1720 im Barockstil nach Plänen von M.D.Pöppelmann umbauen. Die chinesisch anmutenden Dächer und Türmchen sind ein Modegeschmack des 18. Jhd. Where the new palace is today, was until 1395 a defensible living castle, a manor.
