Summary[edit]

Description
English: Down coal train approaching Dunford Bridge.
View SE, towards Penistone and Wath or Sheffield on the ex-GC Manchester - Sheffield/Wath main line - soon to be electrified. A typical Yorkshire to Lancashire coal train has surmounted the long climb with assistance and is easing into Dunford Bridge before dropping down through the Woodhead Tunnel. The locomotive is another of the countless Robinson GC 8K class 2-8-0s (LNER Class O4): No. 63679, built 12/17 to Government order as ROD No. 1661, served in France in WW1, used briefly after the War by the L&Y then by the GWR (as No. 3096) in 1920-1, stored at Beachley until purchased by the LNER in 1/24, becoming No. 6325 (No. 3679 from 1946), rebuilt to O4/8 in 11/57 and withdrawn as BR No. 63679 in 5/65.
