| Description |
I am at Dockweiler State Beach, at the west end of LAX. I am picnicking with friends and taking lots of photos - and some of them happen to be aviation photos. One of China Airlines' two daily departures to Taipei, Taiwan, ROC. This aircraft first flew at the end of 2004. In exchange for Boeing taking back two of China Airlines' 747-400s to convert into the Dreamlifter for the 787 assembly, China Airlines was given the final four passenger 747-400s coming off of the assembly line; this is one of them. Another (B-18210) bears the hybrid Dreamliner/China Airlines livery, and yet another (B-18215) was the absolute final passenger Boeing 747-400 built. It also happens that the Dreamlifter conversion took place in Taiwan, though the contractor carrying out the work was China Airlines' domestic rival, Evergreen Group (which owns EVA Air).
