Author | This pair of six-panel screens depicting the city of Edo (Tokyo) and its suburbs and the accomplishments of Tokugawa Iemitsu (the third shogun) provides rare historical material for the early Edo period. There are several theories regarding the date of their creation. Each screen measures 162.5 x 366.0 cm. It was produced by the order of daimyo Matsudaira Nobutsuna (1596 – May 4, 1662). | ||||||
