El megayate “Al Mirqab”, del emir de Qatar, en Las Palmas de G.C. (18 fotos) Abanderado en Islas Caymán, se trata de uno de los yates más grandes del mundo y es propiedad del primer ministro y ministro de Relaciones Exteriores de Qatar, Hamad bin Jassem bin Jaber Al Thani. Según la revista Forbes, el yate del emir qatarí está considerado uno de los barcos más bellos del mundo en su género. De 5.000 toneladas de registro bruto (GRT) y 1.400 de peso muerto (TPM), mide 133 metros de eslora total y 18 de manga. Puede desarrollar una velocidad máxima de 20,3 nudos y mantiene una velocidad de crucero de 18,7 nudos. Dispone de una plataforma de vuelo para un helicóptero. Código IMO 1009223. Construcción número 681 de los astilleros Peters, en Alemania, entró en servicio en 2008. El arquitecto encargado de su diseño general fue Tim Heywood y la decoración interior corresponde a un proyecto de Andrew Winch. Puede acomodar a 10 personas en cinco grandes camarotes, más la suite del propietario, que ocupa una cubierta completa. La tripulación máxima es de 60 personas, aunque lo habitual son 21.
