English: Entering Casnewydd Bach/Little Newcastle The official name of the village is Castell Newydd Bach but it is colloquially known in the abbreviated form. The castle, which would have consisted of a Norman motte, now gone, was built to keep the Welsh inhabitants under control, as in many of these settlements on the edge of the Englishry. |
