Español: El escudo del municipio de Tumaco es de forma ojival ribeteado de color azul oscuro y está jaquelado en dos cuarteles horizontales.
El cuartel superior ostenta el “Arco Natural del Morro”, teniendo como fondo el cielo y el mar en sus colores naturales: símbolo de la indescriptible belleza de nuestro paisaje. El cuartel inferior, con fondo de azul claro, tiene una antorcha color bronce en el centro, una cinta de color rojo con las fechas de 1781-1782 impresas en color amarillo. A los costados de la antorcha se encuentran dos hipocampo en su color natural, debajo de ella hay dos brazos al natural en actitud de haber roto una cadena, y haciendo marco a estos brazos, dos ramas de laurel formando la “V” representativa de la victoria. La antorcha es símbolo de nuestro consagrado amor por la libertad. Las fechas impresas en la cinta, nos recuerda el periodo de tiempo en que nuestros antepasados permanecieron completamente autónomos, fuera del mandato de las autoridades coloniales de aquella época. Los hipocampos representan la ilimitada y variada riqueza de nuestra inigualada fauna marina. Los brazos son la rememoración del incomparable valor y arrojo con que nuestros ascendientes rompieron las cadenas de yugo colonial, con la esperanza y el deseo de legarnos en forma permanente la libertad, don preciado de todos los pueblos. Las ramas de laurel, sintetizan las heroicas y gloriosas hazañas de nuestros abuelos. En la parte superior del escudo esta una cinta de color rosado, que lleva en letras de color negro el nombre de nuestro amado pueblo “Tumaco”. |
