Description
English: The shield del Carmen is an oval bounded by a gray edge that has the name of the city and state to which it belongs. In the center of the oval is the Laguna de Términos and on it the Isla del Carmen. The lion, symbolizing the European siege to Mexico during Spanish rule and the French intervention, is about the island and on it an eagle hurts him with its beak and claws. The brown eagle, symbolizing the people preventing a foreign country is involved in its territory and nation.
Español: El escudo del Carmen es un óvalo limitado por una periferia en color gris que tiene el nombre de la ciudad y el estado al que pertenece. En el centro del óvalo se encuentra la Laguna de Términos y sobre ella la Isla del Carmen. El león, que simboliza el asedio europeo a México durante el dominio español y la intervención francesa, está sobre la isla y sobre él un águila lo hiere con el pico y las garras. El águila simboliza al pueblo carmelita, evitando que un país extranjero intervenga en su territorio y la nación.
