| Description | Frankfurt am Main, Bundesland Hessen: Die Kelsterbacher Terrasse ist eine acht Kilometer lange und bis zu 17 m hohe Geländestufe im Frankfurter Stadtwald. Die in west-östlicher Richtung verlaufende und nach Norden hin mäßig steil abfallende Terrasse ist eine Abbruchkante des Main-Urstromtals aus dem Erdzeitalter Pliozän. Sie beginnt im Westen am Mainufer in der Stadt Kelsterbach, durchläuft den Schwanheimer Wald und endet südlich des Frankfurter Stadtteils Niederrad. Entlang der Oberkante der Terrasse verläuft die Grenzschneise, ein historischer Grenz- und Handelsweg. Das Foto zeigt ein Exemplar der die Grenzschneise säumenden Grenzsteine aus dem 19. Jahrhundert |
