[edit] History

[edit] In brief

Party flag of the League of Social Democrats of Vojvodina and former unofficial proposed flag of Vojvodina.

[edit] In long

Flag of Vojvodinian people during 1989. & 1990. protests when Slobodan Milošević diminished the autonomy of the Socialist Autonomous Province of Vojvodina (a constitutional province of the Socialist Republic of Serbia at the time). Used by protesters and political parties through the 1990's and especially in 1999. & 2000. when the Regime of Slobodan Milošević was put down from power by the Serb people, and as well by the Vojvodinians (of all nations that reside in the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina). History of that flag shows that it was a flag that united the peoples of Vojvodina during revolutions (like in 1848.). Originally it was used by the Šajkača battalion of the Austro-Hungarian Empire's Military. Now the flag is being used as a representative of political parties of Vojvodina that want more autonomy of the Province within Serbia. The political platform is called "Republic of Vojvodina" and calls for the establishment of Federal Republic of Serbia of which Republic of Vojvodina would be a constituent member of. This was clearly articulated when talks were held on the future territorial organization of Serbia and Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. In times of Socialist Yugoslavia Vojvodina was in 1945. free from Federal Serbia until freely selected to attach itself to Serbia. In that time Vojvodina was referred to as Autonomous Vojvodina.
