Summary[edit]
DescriptionFlints in chalk - geograph.org.uk - 749822.jpg |
English: Flints in chalk. The flints seen here, embedded in the chalk base, were broken by ice movements that have sheared the chalk. For a wider view see > 749814 and 749817.
The cliffs between Weybourne and Sheringham display sections of glacial sediments known as the Contorted Drift. The so-called Wroxham crag, a mixture of sand, clay, silts and stones, is resting on a white base of chalk. This chalk yields echinoids and brachiopods; mammal and fish remains along with a wide variety of molluscs can befound in the thick shell beds and crag sands above. |
