Description
English: ULX (Ultraluminous X-ray source) found in the elliptical galaxy NGC 1399 (in the Fornax cluster). X-rays from NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory and the Magellan telescopes are shown in blue and are overlaid on an optical image from the Hubble Space Telescope. The picture shows that a star was torn apart by an intermediate-mass black hole in a globular cluster - that is what NASA-scientists think about this photo.
Deutsch: ULX (Ultrahelle Röntgen-Quelle), gefunden in der Spiralgalaxie NGC 1399 (im Sternbild Fornax). Röntgenstrahlen, die vom Weltraumteleskop Chandra und den Magellan Teleskope (in Chile) aufgenommen wurden, werden blau angezeigt. Sie wurden überlagert von einem optischen Bild des Hubble-Weltraumteleskops. Das Bild zeigt, dass ein Stern von einem mittel-massiven Schwarzen Loch zu einem Kugelsternhaufen auseinandergerissen wurde.
