Notes Der Landschafts- und Marinemaler Friedrich Preller war Schüler seines Vaters, den er 1859-62 nach Rom begleitete. Sein zweiter Aufenthalt in Rom folgte 1864-66. Ab 1867 war er in Dresden ansässig, wo er seit 1888 Professor an der Akademie war. Anfänglich stand er unter dem Einfluss seines Vaters, später unter dem Franz Drebers. Meister der Stimmungslandschaft.
