Summary[edit]

Description
English: Two examples of open top buses operating in Torbay from different eras, pictured in Goodrington. Both buses are named after British sailors, which is a long standing practice for such services.

On the left is Stagecoach in Devon bus 15329 John Hayes (reg. J829 HMC), still in service. It's a 1991 Scania N113DRB double-decker with Alexander RH bodywork. It was new to London Buses as their fleet no. S29. Inherited by Stagecoach London, it was one of the batch of 8 such vehicles that were subsequently transferred to Devon for conversion for use as open top buses.

On the right is 925 Admiral Blake (reg. 925 GTA), a 1961 Leyland Atlantean PDR1 with Metro Cammell bodywork, new to Devon General as their 925, now operated as a heritage bus by Devonian Motor Services in Devon General livery. It was delivered new as a convertible open topper, and served with Devon General until 1977, when it was transferred to Penzance for operation with Western National (being renamed as Admiral Hardy). It has been with Paignton based D.M.S. since around April 2010, who aquired it from a private owner.
