Description Great Neck, VA 18th century plantation house, home of George Mason IV. Mason was the author of The Virginia Declaration of Rights, and was one of only 3 dissenters at the 1787 constitutional convention, refusing to sign the US Constitution; his decision to do so brought about the end of his friendship with George Washington.
