Summary[edit]

Description

Another postcard written in Greek, which I do not speak. This was on the back of this picture. I'm posting it here (along with this one) in hopes of getting it translated. If anyone reading this can translate it, please let me know!

Update: yanni very kindly sent me this note which I quote here:

I try to pass through the second postcard "from your grandpa" to his father.

As I told you in the first postcard, it's probably written by another person, here "he" says it's his mother.

Another thing is that I can't translate a special word the Greeks use to explain all the countries outside of Greece (here: America), but with the meaning of homesickness. It's the word "ξενιτιά=ksenitia". So I leave it as is.

Second postcard:

"My beloved dad, first I want to ask you for your good health. If you ask for your son, I am fine. My dad, my mom is writing and sending you this picture. So this is me. Look at me how I became a young man. I shout for my dad but I don't know him. It would be my luck if I could go to America so you could become acquainted with your son and me with you.

I walk out of the door and shout "dad" but you are beloved by the "ksenitia" and I am beloved by the emptyness, for that I don't have my dad here to see him."

On the right:

"This is your son writing to you".

"Georgios K. Kradakis" (here the name is written as Kradakis and not as Kardakis like in the other postcard)

"I kiss your right hand and I kiss both of your eyes. Come quick, my dad, so I can see you."
