Summary[edit]

Description Der kleine Ort Garz liegt im Süden der Insel Rügen. Nach Stralsund sind es 23 Kilometer. Seit 2004 gehört auch die Halbinsel Zudar zum Ort. Südlich liegt einer der wenigen größeren Seen der Insel Rügen, der Garzer See. Sehenswert sind u. a. die ev. St.-Petri-Kirche, das Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-Geburtshaus bei Schloss Schoritz, das E.-M.-Arndt-Museum, die alte Schule, das Rathaus und die teilweise restaurierten Bürgerhäuser. Der Ortskern wurde im Rahmen der Städtebauförderung seit 1991 restauriert. Es gibt aber auch noch etliche Gebäude, an denen es noch viel zu tun gibt.
