Description
Français : Photos prises dans le bassin du fleuve Sinnamary sur la la rivière Koursibo (ou Courcibo) lors de la fin de la montée des eaux induites par le barrage EDF de Petit saut, en Guyane, en décembre 1995. Tous les arbres noyés par le barrage avaient un système racinaire et un métabolisme non adapté à l'immersion ; ils ont en quelques mois perdu toutes leurs feuilles et sont morts noyés, produisant la «forêt fantôme» ou «forêt grise»seules quelques plantes épiphytes résistant bien au soleil ont survécu. Ce grand arbre isolé émerge encore de l'eau. On remarque que toutes ses épiphytes (lianes...) sont mortes, sauf quelques unes (broméliacées en général) capables de stocker de l'eau de pluie.
Peu de champignons sont présents sur le bois, en raison du fait que l'atmosphère au dessus du lac est paradoxalement très sèches (les arbres morts n'évapotranspirent plus, et le bois sèche au soleil et sous l'action du vent)
English: Photo made in the Sinnamary river basin on the Kursibo river (or Courcibo), in french Guiana, at the end of the rise of the waters induced by the dam EDF de Petit saut, December 1995. All the trees drowned by the dam had a root system and a metabolism not adapted to immersion ; they have lost all their leaves in a few months and have drowned, producing for some years the ghost forest or gray forest  ; only a few epiphytic plants resistant to the sun have survived on the trees
