Family: Malvaceae Synonym:Herissantia crispa(L.) Briz., Sida crispaL Distribution:Common in the shady forest undergrowth on hilly slopes. Found in South India, America and Malaysia.Photographed at Eastren Ghats. Description:Trailing perennial ,weak,subshrub; the stems flexuous, stellate-pubescent ,.Leaves: ovate or cordate, crenate, up to 7 -3x 2-3.5cm(progressively reduced upward), acute, tomentose. Flowers: 0.5-cm across,pale yellow,solitary in leaf axils, on slender, recurved pedicels,jointed above the middle. Calyx 4-7 mm long, reflexed in fruit; petals 6-11 mm long; staminal column glabrous, 2-2.5 mm long; styles 10-12 Fruit: FRUITS schizocarp, globose, bladdery,wrinkled, hirsute, 1.5-2 cm across, Seeds reniform, blackish-brown.
