Notes
  • Significance: A plain one-story brick structure, one elevation in Flemish bond. The window and door openings have been considerably shifted although evidences in the walls regarding original conditions remain. Many, if not all of the openings were finished with jack arches of gauged brick. "In 1823 General Andrew Jackson erected the Hermitage Church on his farm to gratify his beloved wife. Two large log fireplaces were used to furnish heat, homemade brick were used for flooring and candles for lighting."
  • Survey number: HABS TN-136
  • Building/structure dates: 1823 Initial Construction
