Notes
  • Significance: Often referred to as "the most monumental house in Tennessee," this house is fine example of the lavish scale on which many Southern houses were built in the period 1845-1860. It is particularly noteworthy for its ornamental iron work and for the fine detail of its Corinthian columns both inside and out. The structure was designated a National Historic Landmark in November 1971.
  • Survey number: HABS TN-63
  • Building/structure dates: 1845 Initial Construction
