| Description |
English: Holy Island from near St Cuthbert's Cave. The view is looking east from the hill above St Cuthbert's Cave. The Castle on Holy Island (Lindisfarne) can be just seen in the very centre of the picture. It was from Lindisfarne that the monks left carrying the coffin of St Cuthbert and the cave below the view point is one of the traditional resting places for his body before he was finally buried in what is now Durham Cathedral. |
