| Description |
English: Ice House near Monk Bar A brick ice house of circa 1800 built into the rampart on the north side of the city wall near Monk Bar. Inside is a pit some 6m deep, in which ice was stored for the use of the city's fishmongers. Ice would have been collected in winter from the Ouse, or possibly from the Foss, which is nearer. |
