| Description |
English: Iron Age encampment, Stockton Wood near Stockton. This path runs north-south through Stockton Wood and here, looking north, the southern edge of a circular Iron Age encampment of approximately 130m in diameter cuts across where the path dips and rises. These remains are part of a much larger settlement in this part of Stockton Woods and the adjacent chalk downland, 493451. The woods to the right and the adjacent downland further east is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). |
