Description

A view of the Irving Dam old control structure in Irving, Michigan on the Thornapple River.

This image is from top of the power canal dyke. The disused control valve operating gears make an interesting tableaux. The old structure required manual control, while the new one appears to use gravity (counterweights) to do the regulating

The old control structure is labeled O in the diagram at right.
