English: Johnson's Hillock Locks The pound below lock 60. Where locks are close together, the canal is often widened to provide a small reservoir. This reduces the risk of problems due to a lack of water.
The 1:50000 map is misleading here. It appears to show the old Lancaster Canal branching off the Leeds & Liverpool Canal from this pound. However, the junction is actually below the bottom lock (58). |
