Summary[edit]
DescriptionKillin Junction Station - geograph.org.uk - 62883.jpg |
English: Killin Junction Station. This station never had road access; it was a junction where passengers on the Callander & Oban Railway could change trains to travel the last few miles along the Killin Branch Railway to the southern tip of Loch Tay. The branch railway was built in the 1880s courtsy of a wealthy local laird. Both lines closed in 1965 following a rockfall in Glen Ogle to the south.
The muddy tracks left by forestry vehicles make it look more like a railway line again, but the platform has been put to a new use recently as a base for log stacks which hide the remains of the station buildings. |
