Description
English: The kouros is an Archaic Greek sculpture of a young male nude. Very stiff and idealized, it was not really a lifelike representation.

By the 5th Century BC, these idealized figures would give way to more lifelike sculptures of the Classical and Hellenistic eras of Greece.

This kouros is part of the excellent Greek collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
