Description

L'ensemble architectural autour du tombeau de Bakhaouddin Nakhchbandi (1318-1389) est, depuis cinq siècles, un des lieux majeurs de pélerinage pour les musulmans.

Trois Hadj sur le tombeau de ce saint de l'Islam soufique, sont équivalents à un pélerinage à La Mecque.

Bakhaouddin Nakhchbandi est le fondateur de l'ordre soufi des Nakhchbandi, le plus répandu en Asie centrale.

L'ensemble comprend un grand bâtiment dans la cour duquel se trouve la tombe du saint, non visible, mais signalée par la hampe traditionnelle indiquant la tombe d'un saint de l'Islam.

Des mosquées funèbres avec des iwans encerclent la cour. Ces bâtiments ont été rénovés dans les années 1990.

L'ensemble comprend aussi une médersa, une nécropole, une khanaka,..

Le lieu, situé à 12 Km de Boukhara, attire de nombreux pélerins.

Le rite est calqué sur celui de La Mecque. Les pélerins doivent faire plusieurs fois le tour du tombeau, embrasser certaines parties du mausolée,.. mais aussi tourner et passer sous l'arbre qui "aurait germé sur son bâton".
