| Description |
English: Linlithgow Golf Course This is the 17th green above the Union Canal. The canal provided rich pickings for wee boys prepared to risk the wrath of the greenkeepers as many shots are overhit on this downhill hole and land in the water. The trees behind the green are growing in the "Old Quarry" one of two on Kettlestoun Hills. The quarry must be of some age as the "New Quarry" some 400 metres to the west is served by a canal basin suggesting it was operating when the canal was opened in 1822. Piror to this, stone would have been carted out under Kettlestoun bridge immediately to the north of the Old Quarry. |
