Summary[edit]
DescriptionLocko Plantation - geograph.org.uk - 346508.jpg |
English: Locko Plantation The photograph shows one of the rides that have been cut into Locko Plantation as part of the continuing management of the woodland.
Access [to the plantation] has been further improved by developing more walking routes through the wood. Creating access has been part of the continuing management of the wood, allowing glades and rides to benefit from more light. This will increase areas of woodland flowers and create areas for woodland and grassland butterflies. Throughout the plantation management has continued with a process of woodland thinning allowing some trees to mature. Coppicing work is developing an age structure of trees and thus, variety of different woodland habitats within the wood. Quoted text from an information board near one of the entrances to the plantation. About half way along this ride a path leads to the northern end of the largest open space that has been cut into the 346845. To see another photograph of the plantation taken from the same viewpoint as this one but rotated approximately 90° to the left, click here 346529. To see another photograph of the ride, but from the bottom, looking up, click here 343176. |
