English: Look out post. This look out station near Sron Bhroin (Brandon Point) dates from the second world war. It was manned to keep watch for foreign boats in Irish neutral waters. It was numbered look out station 40, which was written on the ground in white stones to enable planes to confirm their location along the coast. In the background is Brandon Bay and a part of the Slieve Mish mountain range. |
