Description

Aerial view of the Main Navy and Munitions Buildings, Washington, D.C., shortly after World War I. The view is about WNW, with the Naval Hospital in the center distance. Constitution Avenue, NW, runs along the structures' northern face and 17th Street is in the foreground.

Note the many World War I temporary buildings in the area to the north of Constitution Avenue. The Lincoln Memorial is in the left background, with the Reflecting Pool under construction in front of it. Photographed from a Naval Air Station Anacostia airplane flying just to the south of the Washington Monument, 23 May 1919.
