English: Wiring diagram of multiway switching.
  • Why to use relay? If we have small room, we can drive the light from 2 positions use similiar multiway light switch. But imagine Stalin-era buildings - 50 meters from fuse box to first switch, 200 meters to second switch and 300 meters to ceiling and from first chandelier to others; don't forget about short currents, by such long distances you should use very fat cables for low power - this way you'll spend there all of money only for cables. And of course lamps will shine weakly due to big voltage drop cause of long distances.
    • But we can solve this problem using relay. Using relay, you need to line expensive power cable only from fuse box till lamps on ceiling, but from fuse box till button-switches you should line cheap thick control cable. At least 40% of money save without sensible voltage drop and even power cable gauge became thinner.
