Summary[edit]

Description
English: New thorn hedge planted by the M3 cutting, Twyford Down. The fence on the right separates St Catherine's Hill nature reserve from the M3 motorway cutting through Twyford Down. The transparent tubes contain blackthorn samplings and support sticks to create a more natural-looking barrier at this edge of the field. The thorn grows well on the chalk downs, and there is a particularly large thorn tree to the northeast of the M3 cutting alongside The Dongas hollow ways.
