Description
English: French Algeria muslim rebels use a new method of terrorism by setting forests in fire. Bainem forest (near Algiers's European quarter Bab el Oued) is torched on August 16, 1956
Français : Le 16 août 1956, le FLN pratique la politique de la terre brûlée en employant l'incendie comme arme de guerre. A Baïnem, 300 acres de pins et plusieurs maisons de la banlieue d'Alger (Bab el Oued) sont brûlés avant que le sinistre ne soit maîtrisé, au bout de plusieurs heures, par les pompiers secondés par l'armée. Cette dernière doit ainsi y consacrer une patrie de ses ressources normalement affectée à la pacification et même faire appel à des renforts afin de pouvoir faire face à une nouvelle forme de terrorisme.
