Summary[edit]

Description This photograph shows the courtyard between the outer gate and the stairs that lead up toward the Yomeimon at Nikko Toshogu, Japan. The outer gate and the three storehouses are out of view to the left. The sacred stable, with the carving of the Three Wise Monkeys, is at left. To the right of it is a building where the shrine sells amulets. The bronze torii stands to the right of center, and to its right is the cistern where visitors wash their hands. The sutra library is out of view to the right. I took the photo and contribute the file to the public domain. However, people and institutions may retain rights to images in it.
