Description

Op dit schiereiland trotseren honderden grafstenen, khashkars, de wind die van over het Sevan-meer komt. Khashkars, kruisstenen, zijn een typisch Armeense kunstvorm. Ze worden meestal als grafsteen gebruikt, maar ook als gedenksteen. Op deze grafstenen wordt een kruisiging slechts zelden uitgebeeld, het zijn eerder kruisen in steen uitgekapt. Het kruis is meestal het Armeense kruis met twee driesprongen aan elke arm van het kruis. Soms zijn er ook stenen die een verhaal uitbeelden, vooral bij de kinder - grafstenen. Lees ook:
