Description
English: This photograph shows the old Supreme Court building on the north-west corner of Latrobe and Russell Streets, Melbourne. Constructed in 1842, it was used to house:
  1. until 1852, the Supreme Court of New South Wales for the District of Port Phillip;
  2. from 1852 until 1884, the Supreme Court of Victoria; and
  3. from 1884 until 1910, the Court of Petty Sessions.

It was demolished in 1910 to make way for the old Magistrates' Court building that presently occupies the site.

The photograph was taken by an unknown photographer, circa 1900. It is an albumen print.
