Description

Corner of Pärnu highway and Roosikrantsi street. In the background, white building at Pärnu highway - Pärnu Maantee - and Sakala street., Pärnu Maantee nr 27. The brick building is numbered Paernu Mnt 36 (23 on Wikipedia - perhaps an error) / Roosikrantsi 23. The Estonian architect of the Sakala building is <a href="http://www.fashiontravelers.com/stores-versace-estonia-tallinn-40402-0.htm" rel="nofollow">Robert Natus</a> (1890-1950) of German descent. He was born in Viljandi Russia (as was, later Estonia) , and died in Bad Wilsnack, Germany. He was also responsible for the more famous Art Deco City Hall in Tallinn of 1932. The similarity with the Chile Haus in Hamburg is striking, using the same coloured bricks and styling by <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johann_Friedrich_H%c3%b6ger" rel="nofollow">Johann Friedrich (Fritz) Höger</a> who also was responsible for the Garbáty-Zigarettenfabrik in Berlin-Pankow,
