Description
English: The plaque on the former headquarters of the en:NKVD ("Cheka") in en:Bauska, en:Latvia, digital photograph by Pēteris Cedriņš, 2006. The text reads: "During the Soviet occupation, the Bauska District branch of the institution of repression (NKVD, 'en:Cheka') was located in this building, where the human being was deprived of his homeland, home, family, freedom, and life. The stomping boots resound and hundreds wail... each day is like a memory not forgotten by the heart."
