Deutsch: Palazzo San Francesco in Ostuni, ehemaliges Franziskanerkloster, heute umgebaut zum Rathaus an der Piazza della Libertà. Noch im Bild rechts sieht man als Anbau die Kirche San Francesco di Assisi. Dieser Teil des Franziskanerklosters stammt aus 1304. Die ursprünglich im gotischen Stil erbaute Kirche, wurde bis ins 17. Jahrhundert mehrfach umgebaut und geändert. Die Fassade der Kirche wurde im späten 19. Jahrhundert nochmals geändert und geänderten Fassade des nebenstehenden Rathauses angeglichen. Erst 1935, kurz vor dem Überfall Italiens auf Äthiopien, wurden vom in Ostuni geborenen Bildhauer Francesco Bagnulo (1911-1991) zwei Statuen aus Carrara-Marmor in den beiden Nischen auf der Seite der Tür platziert. Die linke Statue soll den Kirchennamenspatron Francesco di Assisi (Franz von Assisi) (1182-1226) bei der Zähmung eines Wolfes darstellen. Die Kraft des Gefühls der Ruhe soll hier zusätzlich vermittelt werden. Die rechte Statue soll den Heiligen Antonius von Padua (1195-1231) darstellen. Die Kirche von San Francesco d'Assisi hat ein einzelnes Schiff, einen wertvollen Altar und u.a. ein Gemälde, das Moses darstellen soll. |
