Italiano: STATUA ANTROPOMORFA - Figura in posizione eretta dal torso cilindrico fortemente allungato che si estende al di sotto della sporgenza costituita da spalle e petto; le braccia presentano la caratteristica torsione ( anche se qui poco pronunciata) dello stile mumuye. Gambe breviformi, molto ridotte rispetto alle proporzioni naturali del corpo.
La testa ha forma conica con acconciatura a cresta, mentre il volto è piatto, con occhi circolari, naso sottile, bocca ellissoidale ai cui lati sono incise scarificazioni. Alle statue che rappresentano gli antenati, i Mumuye assegnano la capacità di guarire le malattie, prevedere il futuro o far cadere la pioggia. Sono tenute all'interno delle abitazioni famigliari o costituiscono il possesso di personaggi importanti (gauritori, indovini, fabbri) che accrescono così il loro prestigio. |
