Summary[edit]

Description
English: Railway Bridge over the driveway to Umberslade Hall. The ex-GWR line from Birmingham to Bearley Junction and Stratford-upon-Avon crosses the imposing driveway from Tanworth-in-Arden to Umberslade Hall 88604 in the NE corner of this square. Unlike most of the other bridges on this line which are built from Engineering Blue Bricks, this bridge is constructed from local stone. Apparently this was at the behest of the owner of Umberslade Hall as a condition of crossing his drive! Interesting also that the railway skirts the adjacent village of Tanworth-in-Arden without a stopping place. Despite it being the most important settlement in the area the nearest stopping places are Wood Green Platform to the north and Danzey to the south. Possibly 19th century NIMBYism in action?
