Summary[edit]

Description
English: Jahaz Mahal located in Mehrauli, New Delhi,India. A water-body called 'Hauz-i-Shams' used to surround the structure once. A miserable puddle of a lake still exists at the back of this monument. The name 'Jahaz Mahal' means 'Ship Palace' in Farsi. 'Jahaz'(ship) is of course an allusion to how the structure would have looked with respect to the surrounding lake. The authorities have finally decided to restore the place to some degree of its former glory. It was heartening to see a couple of guards posted at the previously-unguarded gates.
